April Ross

April Ross, a beach volleyball player American is part of a select set of females who've won medals in more than one Olympics. Alix Klineman is the newest Olympian who will be joining the team in Tokyo. But more than that, Ross will be aiming for her very first Olympic gold. Perhaps she has one chance, at 39 years old. However, she's convinced that top prizes are in reach. If we play our highest or play well I feel like we'll win the gold medal Ross said via NBC Boston. Also, I'll take the opportunity to try my luck. Ross was born in 1982 and was raised within Costa Mesa California with her siblings and parents, started participating in athletics at Newport Harbor High school. She was able to participate in many sports at Newport Harbor High School. Her prep athletic career included indoor volleyball along with basketball as well as running and track. She was definitely the best at the sport of indoor volleyball. Based on her biography, she was an outside blocker as well as a middle volleyball player throughout her time in high school. Her achievements were rewarded by her being named 1999 Gatorade's National Circle of Champions Players of the Year. The 2000 Orange County Athlete of the Month award was also won by her due to her volleyball skills. Ross and Klineman have been continuing to play since the year 2017. But, Ross was an important player in the world of beach volleyball prior to the pair. In reality, she's been a winner of numerous major tournaments and one of them was a volleyball superstar. For six years from 2007 to 2013 she teamed with Jennifer Kessy who more recently played the role of Klineman's coach. Alongside Kessy Ross, she was a major force on the international circuit winning a world title in 2009. The duo took silver in London's Olympic Games. Misty May, Kerri Walsh and Kerri Jennings were the team that could take home the gold. Ross Jennings became Walsh Jennings partner in fate after Maytreanor's retirement. They took home the bronze medal in beach volleyball at the Rio Olympics in 2016. Ross was a Trojans player for the USC during her college days, the years prior to her professional career. This was an impressive performance for Ross during her time at the school. In 2000, she was voted Pac-10 Freshman and NCAA Freshman Of The Year and an All-American. The Trojans were also able to reach the Final Four with her help. She was devastated by a tragic incident in her sophomore year. However, she went on to be an All-American once more. Through her last two years within the team, she guided the Trojans to the top of the mountain winning successive national titles. For her part Ross established her status as a legend by winning the Honda Sports Award for 2003-04. This prize was awarded to the best female college volleyball players across the United States. Ross was a USC international relations major, was a volleyball star. Unfortunately Ross mom Margie did not get to see her daughter ascend to the highest levels of beach volleyball stardom. Ross lost the breast cancer that she battled in the year 2001. Ross was then a sophomore. Ross is still awed by her parents who passed away. Margie, on the beach as well as in her everyday life, is still a source of inspiration for her.
